Our Mission

FIRST KINGSLAND EXISTS TO GLORIFY GOD BY MAKING DISCIPLES OF JESUS CHRIST THROUGH THE PREACHING, TEACHING, AND PROCLAMATION OF HIS WORD AND BY SERVING ONE ANOTHER IN TRUTH, LOVE, AND GRACE.

Our mission statement is driven by the Great Commission and the Great Commandment. We strive to be a church that will submit and surrender our lives to see this mission come to fruition.

THE GREAT COMMISSION

Matthew 28:16-20

“But the eleven disciples proceeded to Galilee, to the mountain which Jesus had designated. When they saw Him, they worshiped Him; but some were doubtful. And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, ‘All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.’

THE GREAT COMMANDMENT

Matthew 22:34-40
“But when the Pharisees heard that Jesus had silenced the Sadducees, they gathered themselves together. One of them, a lawyer, asked Him a question, testing Him, ‘Teacher, which is the great commandment in the Law?’ And He said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind.’ This is the great and foremost commandment. The second is like it, ‘You shall love your neighbor as yourself.’ On these two commandments depend the whole Law and the Prophets.

The local church was founded by God for the purposes of God and the glory of God. The church exists to bring glory to His name through worship, discipleship, and evangelism. We are humbled by the reality that God works through His Church for the sake of glorifying His Great Name among the people of Kingsland and unto all nations.

PART 1: TO GLORIFY GOD BY MAKING DISCIPLES OF JESUS CHRIST

If asked, “How do we as a church glorify God?” the first part of our answer would be by “making disciples of Jesus Christ.” Making disciples of Jesus Christ comes through the preaching and teaching of His Word to those who believe and the proclamation of His Word to those who don’t know Jesus and desperately need Him.

PREACHING

2 Timothy 4:1-5

“I solemnly charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who is to judge the living and the dead, and by His appearing and His kingdom: preach the word; be ready in season and out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort, with great patience and instruction. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires, and will turn away their ears from the truth and will turn aside to myths. But you, be sober in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill your ministry.”

TEACHING

Matthew 28:20

“teaching them to observe all that I commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

PROCLAMATION OF HIS WORD

2 Corinthians 5:17-20

“Therefore if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold, new things have come. Now all these things are from God, who reconciled us to Himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation, namely, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and He has committed to us the word of reconciliation. Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were making an appeal through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.”

Our hope of bringing glory to God through lives changed lies squarely in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Paul said, “For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek.” (Romans 1:16)

PART 2: TO GLORIFY GOD BY SERVING ONE ANOTHER

The second part of the answer to the question, How do we as a church glorify God? would be “by serving one another”. We strongly believe that not only does God expect for every Believer to be a witness to the Gospel of Jesus Christ, He also equips us to fulfill that responsibility. 2 Corinthians 12:4-6 declares, “Now there are varieties of gifts, but the same Spirit. And there are varieties of ministries, and the same Lord. There are varieties of effects, but the same God who works all things in all persons.

In light of these words, we believe that our gifts, services, abilities and ministries have been “given” to us by our Great Lord and cannot be something that we earn, merit or deserve. They have been given to us by God’s grace so that they might be used for His glory. Therefore, we seek to Glorify God by serving one another in truth, love and grace.

TRUTH

Ephesians 4:14-15

As a result, we are no longer to be children, tossed here and there by waves and carried about by every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, by craftiness in deceitful scheming; but speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in all aspects into Him who is the head, even Christ

Ephesians 4:25

Therefore, laying aside falsehood, speak truth each one of you with his neighbor, for we are members of one another.

LOVE

John 13:34-35

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another, even as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all men will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.”

Galatians 5:13

For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another.

GRACE

Colossians 3:12-13

So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience; bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, whoever has a complaint against anyone; just as the Lord forgave you, so also should you.

Galatians 6:1-2

“Brethren, even if anyone is caught in any trespass, you who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; each one looking to yourself, so that you too will not be tempted. Bear one another’s burdens, and thereby fulfill the law of Christ.”
