Building and Grounds Policy (Summary)

The Building and Grounds Committee is responsible for the maintenance, security, and management of church property, grounds, and equipment (excluding office, computer, and media systems). The committee oversees facility use policies, maintains equipment inventories, and recommends future improvements or expansion needs.

Membership & Structure:

  • At least six members, nominated and elected by the church

  • Chairperson and secretary elected annually

  • Three-year terms, limited to two consecutive terms

  • Members should have relevant maintenance knowledge, awareness of program needs, and an interest in property stewardship

Responsibilities:

  • Meet monthly

  • Propose and manage an annual maintenance budget, including future repair/replacement planning

  • Ensure designated funds carry over for major expenses

  • Conduct annual property inspections and inventory of furnishings/equipment

  • Update inventory records as changes occur

  • Recommend maintenance training or supervision needs

  • Develop facility policies and suggest structural improvements

  • Provide regular reports to the church

The committee may recruit volunteers as needed to assist with maintenance and improvement projects.
