Pastor Protection Act (Texas Family Code 2.601–2.602)

  • Religious Freedom: Religious organizations, their employees, and clergy are not required to perform or provide services for any marriage that conflicts with their sincerely held religious beliefs.

  • Protection from Penalties: Refusing such services cannot be used as a basis for civil or criminal action, nor can it result in loss of benefits, tax exemptions, licenses, or government contracts.

Effective June 11, 2015 (S.B. 2065).
